Amorim embarrassment: Manchester United fail to crack Wolves

Manchester United - Wolverhampton 1:1

Manchester United were left red-faced after being held by a struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers, in a result that felt every bit like a missed opportunity — and a major blow to credibility.

Coming into the game, the numbers told a brutal story. Wolves had collected just two points from their previous 18 matches, making them one of the most out-of-form sides in the Premier League. On paper, this looked like a fixture tailor-made for Manchester United to rebuild momentum under Ruben Amorim. Reality, however, proved far harsher.

The Red Devils did make the perfect start, taking the lead midway through the first half and seemingly setting the platform for a routine evening. But defensive lapses once again crept in, and Wolves found an equaliser just before half-time — a psychological blow that shifted the tone of the match.

The entire second half became an exercise in frustration for Manchester United. Wave after wave of attacks lacked clarity and composure, with desperation gradually replacing structure. They thought they had finally found a breakthrough when Patrick Dorgu put the ball in the net, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside.

And so it ended in a draw that felt like a defeat. For Wolves, a rare point offered brief relief in a bleak run of results. For Manchester United and Ruben Amorim, it was a deeply embarrassing outcome — dropping points against a team that, until now, had been losing to almost everyone.
