Official: Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez joins Chelsea

Chelsea have officially announced the signing of Argentina international Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa, with the experienced goalkeeper putting pen to paper on a three-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
The 33-year-old, who played a key role in Argentina's 2022 World Cup triumph, arrives in London after six years at Aston Villa. Martinez said he was delighted to begin the next chapter of his career with one of England's biggest clubs.
Martinez joined Aston Villa in 2020 and went on to establish himself as one of the Premier League's most reliable goalkeepers. He made 256 appearances for the club and helped Villa win the Europa League in May this year.
His international career with Argentina began in June 2021, and Martinez quickly became the team's first-choice goalkeeper. He has since earned 67 caps and played a crucial role in one of the most successful periods in the history of La Albiceleste.
Martinez was part of the Argentina sides that won the Copa America in 2021 and 2024 before lifting the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022.
