Manchester City made it two wins from two at the start of the Premier League campaign with a commanding 4-1 victory away at Crystal Palace.

The visitors took control before half-time when Erling Haaland rose highest to head home and give Manchester City a deserved lead. Palace struggled to contain Maresca's team, and the second half quickly turned into the Rayan Cherki show.

The Frenchman doubled City's advantage with a superb solo run, weaving his way through the defence before calmly finding the net. Cherki was not finished there. His second goal came from outside the box as his effort took a decisive deflection on its way past the goalkeeper, completing an impressive double.

Crystal Palace did manage to pull one back in unusual circumstances. Yeremy Pino's free-kick struck the frame of the goal before rebounding into the net off Gianluigi Donnarumma, with the Manchester City goalkeeper credited with an own goal.

Any hopes of a Palace comeback were quickly extinguished, however. Erling Haaland put the result beyond doubt by converting a pass from Phil Foden to complete his own double and seal a convincing 4-1 victory for City.
