Como produced a stunning comeback to defeat AS Roma

Como, led by head coach Cesc Fàbregas, produced a stunning comeback to defeat AS Roma and surge into the top four of Serie A, strengthening their push for a historic place in the UEFA Champions League.

The match began brightly for the visitors. AS Roma took an early lead when Donyell Malen confidently converted a penalty after Stephan El Shaarawy was brought down in the box. It was a clinical start from the Roman side, who looked poised to control the contest.

Como, however, gradually grew into the game. The hosts began to apply pressure through the creativity and movement of Nico Paz, repeatedly testing the Roma defence. Their persistence finally paid off shortly after the break when Tasos Douvikas raced through on goal and calmly slotted past Mile Svilar to level the score.

The turning point arrived midway through the second half. Roma were reduced to ten men when Wesley received a second yellow card following a controversial challenge on Assane Diao. From that moment, momentum firmly shifted in favour of Cesc Fàbregas’ side.

Despite several outstanding saves from goalkeeper Mile Svilar, the pressure eventually told. In the 90th minute, Diego Carlos reacted quickest to a rebound inside the box, firing home the winner on his birthday to send the home crowd into celebration.

Como nearly added a third goal moments later when Lucas Da Cunha struck the crossbar, but the hosts had already done enough to secure a vital victory.
