Lando Norris Takes Pole for 2026 Spanish Grand Prix

Lando Norris claimed pole position for the Spanish Grand Prix after topping a dramatic qualifying session at the Madrid circuit on Saturday, September 12. The McLaren driver produced the fastest lap to beat championship leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Max Verstappen.
Lewis Hamilton briefly looked on course for pole after setting the provisional benchmark for Ferrari with his first final-sector attempt. However, the seven-time world champion could not match the pace on his second run and slipped outside the top three.
Antonelli, who leads the Formula 1 drivers' championship, secured second place for Mercedes, while reigning world champion Max Verstappen put his Red Bull into third.
Ferrari will start with both cars inside the top five, as Hamilton finished fourth and team-mate Charles Leclerc took fifth. George Russell, Antonelli's Mercedes team-mate, completed the top six.
