Foreman was one of the most iconic and enduring figures in the sport

The boxing world is in mourning following the death of legendary heavyweight champion George Foreman, who passed away today at the age of 76. Known as "Big George," Foreman was one of the most iconic and enduring figures in the sport, leaving behind a legacy that spans decades.

Foreman's remarkable career began with an Olympic gold medal at the 1968 Mexico City Games. He went on to become a two-time world heavyweight champion, with an incredible 21-year gap between his titles. His second championship win in 1994, at the age of 45, made him the oldest heavyweight champion in history, a record that still stands today.

Foreman's first reign as champion ended in 1974, when he lost to Muhammad Ali in the legendary "Rumble in the Jungle" fight in Zaire. Despite this setback, Foreman's professional career was nothing short of extraordinary, boasting 76 wins, including 68 knockouts—nearly double the number of knockouts achieved by Ali.

Beyond his accomplishments in the ring, Foreman became a beloved cultural figure, known for his charisma, resilience, and later, his successful business ventures. His impact on boxing and popular culture will be remembered for generations to come.
