Club Brugge - Monaco 4:1

AS Monaco endured a nightmare start to their UEFA Champions League 2025/26 group stage campaign, suffering a heavy 4–1 defeat away to Club Brugge.

The match quickly spiraled out of control for the Ligue 1 side, who were overwhelmed in the opening 45 minutes. Club Brugge registered an astonishing 17 shots on goal in the first half alone, scoring three times and even surviving a penalty scare after Maghnes Akliouche's spot-kick was expertly saved by veteran keeper Simon Mignolet.

The Belgian side opened the scoring through Lorenzo Trésoldi, who finished comfortably following a clever assist from Hans Vanaken. The pressure continued to mount, and Raphael Onyedika doubled the lead after a corner. Vanaken then made it 3–0 with a stunning volley that left the Monaco defense in disarray.

Monaco manager Adi Hütter tried to shift momentum after the break with several substitutions, but the damage had already been done. Brugge continued to dominate and added a fourth through Chemsdine Diachone, capping off a near-perfect performance at the Jan Breydel Stadium.

The only consolation for Monaco was a late goal from new signing Ansu Fati — his first for the club — but it proved too little, too late.
