Video of Van Leeuwen's first training session in Shakhtar
On Monday, July 3, Shakhtar conducted their first training session under the guidance of new head coach Patrick van Leeuwen.
The club's CEO Serhii Palkin and Sports Director of Shakhtar Darijo Srna introduced the manager and his staff to the team in the afternoon at the special meeting, and in the evening, the players learned about the Dutch specialist's coaching methods on the field.
The training session lasted a little over an hour and was introductory. In the beginning, the players were offered running work of different intensity, then everyone worked with the ball, performing exercises for ball control and passing. The goalkeepers trained according to the individual program. It should be noted that the newcomer of the Orange-and-Blacks, Ecuadorian midfielder Denil Castillo, joined the team.
