Villarreal Submit Loan Proposal for Artem Dovbyk
The future of Ukrainian striker Artem Dovbyk at AS Roma remains uncertain, with the player yet to feature in pre-season due to a reported muscle injury. Even comments from head coach Gian Piero Gasperini suggest that the forward is far from being considered an “untouchable” part of the squad.
Now, fresh reports from Spain — particularly via AS — confirm that Villarreal have expressed concrete interest in signing the 26-year-old. The La Liga side, who have been monitoring Dovbyk since his Golden Boot-winning campaign in La Liga with Girona, have reportedly requested preliminary information about the striker’s availability.
According to sources close to the negotiations, Roma value Dovbyk at €30 million, reflecting both his scoring pedigree and long-term potential. However, Villarreal are understood to be pushing for a loan deal with an option to buy, proposing a total package reportedly worth no more than €20 million.
Unsurprisingly, the Giallorossi have rejected that valuation, considering it well below their expectations. Unless Villarreal improve their financial terms, Roma are unlikely to proceed.
