The Football Association of England is considering changing the format of the FA Cup, reports the BBC.

According to the source, the FA intends to cancel the replay in the event of a draw in the matches of the third and fourth rounds of the Cup. There are also plans to shorten the semi-final stage to one match, with fifth round games possibly taking place over the weekend.

Those changes of the calendar for English competitions is necessary after UEFA decided to expand European cup competitions. Possible changes could be implemented from the 2025/26 season, as many television rights contracts have already been established.
