Real Sociedad - Espanyol 2:2

RCD Espanyol walked away from San Sebastián with a hard-fought 2–2 draw against Real Sociedad, in a match that saw the Catalan side blow a two-goal lead but still emerge with a valuable point.

It was a dream start for Manuel González’s team, who stunned the home crowd by scoring twice before the break. Pere Milla opened the scoring, and Javi Puado doubled the advantage from the penalty spot, giving Espanyol a 2–0 lead at half-time.

But after the restart, the hosts came roaring back. Real Sociedad launched a relentless wave of attacks and were rewarded with two quickfire goals in the space of just seven minutes to level the match at 2–2.

The Basques dominated possession in the closing stages and looked the more likely to win it, but Espanyol held firm. In fact, they could have stolen all three points in stoppage time when Puado had another chance, but his effort went begging.
