Andriy Vorobey, a former star of National Team Ukraine and Shakhtar Donetsk FC, told Ukrinform in an exclusive comment, how Ukrainians can beat the Scots in the qualifier.

“How do you think we could win? First of all, it’s about the right mindset and responsibility that lays on their shoulders, as well as their desire and dedication. There is no time to rehabilitate so it’s everyone’s character and personal skills that kick in. Of course, the situation with a six-month break did no good to us, so it will be extremely difficult in this situation," Vorobey explained.

He also recalled his match against Scotland in the Euro 2008 qualifiers and elaborated on how the rivals have changed since then.

At the time, Scotland were a fairly simple and pragmatic team focused on headers. Now Scotland are a little different. Like other teams, they try to play variety football. Their thing now is not just corners and free kicks or head play. In addition, in their favor we should add character and atmosphere at their home arena. Due to this, they perform well in the European arena," Vorobey said.

On Wednesday, June 1, National Team Ukraine will play Scotland in 2022 World Cup playoff. The kick-off is at 21:45 Kyiv time.
