Despite letting victory slip away, the home side remain eighth in the table, keeping their European ambitions alive

Sevilla showed resilience and fighting spirit as they salvaged a dramatic draw away at Elche, with Nigerian forward Akor Adams emerging as the hero after scoring twice late on to halt a run of three consecutive defeats.

The hosts appeared to be cruising. Goals from Febas and Valera gave Elche a commanding lead, and for much of the match Eder Sarabia’s side were firmly in control, dictating the tempo and keeping Sevilla at arm’s length well into the second half.

The turning point came with the return of Akor Adams from the Africa Cup of Nations. Introduced with fresh energy and purpose, the striker transformed the contest. His first goal reignited hope for the visitors, before a tense finale saw him strike again to complete his brace and rescue a crucial point.

Elche players were left frustrated, directing their anger at the referee — particularly over a handball decision that led to the penalty which helped Sevilla mount their comeback. Despite letting victory slip away, the home side remain eighth in the table, keeping their European ambitions alive.
