Les Bleus only need a draw to secure their place at the tournament

Kylian Mbappé, the captain and star forward of the France national team, shared his thoughts ahead of tomorrow’s crucial FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifier against Ukraine. Despite the fact that the Les Bleus only need a draw to secure their place at the tournament, Mbappé made it clear — France will play only for victory.

“You never go into a match thinking about playing below your best,” Mbappé told Le Parisien. “That kind of mindset only adds pressure, especially when qualification is on the line. For us, there’s just one option — to win. We want to make our fans proud, to bring smiles to people in the stands and across France. We’re here to play our football, entertain, and earn our spot at the World Cup.”

Reflecting on the previous encounter with Ukraine, Mbappé admitted that it was far from an easy game: “The first match against them was tough. They created several good chances — honestly, they could have scored. That’s why tomorrow’s game won’t be simple. But our destiny is in our hands. We want to keep improving and win every home match.”

The decisive clash between France and Ukraine kicks off on November 13 at 20:45 CET.
