The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has officially confirmed a contract extension for Luis de la Fuente, keeping the Spain head coach in charge until 2032 after several weeks of negotiations. The agreement, approved by the federation's board, will be formally presented at an event at the Football City in the presence of RFEF president Rafael Louzán and the manager himself.

Speaking to the board, Rafael Louzán underlined the federation's desire for long-term stability and continuity. “We are looking for a project that provides stability and confidence. This proposal is based on our trust in Luis de la Fuente and the sporting project he leads, built around a long-term cycle of major competitions,” the RFEF president said.

Louzán also highlighted de la Fuente's remarkable contribution to the national team, describing him as the most decorated coach in Spain's history. “After fourteen years working with us, Luis de la Fuente deserves a long future at the RFEF,” he added.

The previous contract was due to run through Euro 2028, which will be staged in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Initial discussions had centred on extending the coach's deal through the 2030 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco.

However, the federation has opted for a much longer commitment. The new agreement will keep Luis de la Fuente at the helm of Spain until 2032 and also includes a significant salary increase, making him one of the highest-paid national-team managers in world football.

De la Fuente has already achieved an extraordinary feat with Spain, winning all three major titles available to him with the national side: the UEFA Nations League in 2023, UEFA Euro 2024 and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
