Lazio moved back to the summit of Serie A with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Cagliari, taking full advantage of Inter Milan’s defeat in the Milan derby. The result puts the Roman side back in sole possession of first place after a dramatic contest at home.

Cagliari struck first in the opening half. Mbala Nzola finished off a prolonged attacking move after a driving run from Fadera, giving the visitors an early advantage and leaving Lazio with work to do.

The hosts responded quickly, however, thanks to a moment of individual brilliance from Gustav Isaksen. The winger cut through the opposition’s resistance before unleashing a stunning left-footed strike into the top corner, restoring parity and lifting the home crowd.

Lazio pushed for a winner after the break and created several promising opportunities, but initially struggled to find the decisive finish. Their persistence finally paid off late in the match, when Andrea Pinamonti got the crucial touch on Adam Marusic’s low cross to send the home supporters into celebration.
