Didier Deschamps to leave French national team
France head coach Didier Deschamps has officially announced his future retirement from the national team.
"I've been here since 2012, and I plan to be here until 2026, until the next World Cup. After it, everything will be over because at some point you have to stop. It's very clear in my mind... 2026 is a very good time to leave. You never want to stop when everything is good, but you need to be able to say stop.
14 years is a long time. I am not here for records. The most important thing is that the French national team remains at the top, where it has been for many years," RMC Sport quotes Deschamps.
Together with the French national team, Didier won the 2018 World Cup and the 2020/21 Nations League. He also took the team to the finals of the 2016 European Championship and the 2022 World Cup.
