Trump also confirmed that the tournament’s central headquarters will be based at the Kennedy Center

U.S. President Donald Trump has officially announced that the draw for the FIFA World Cup 2026 will take place on December 5 at the iconic John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

The announcement was made from the Oval Office, with Vice President JD Vance, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem in attendance.

Earlier in the day, Trump also confirmed that the tournament’s central headquarters will be based at the Kennedy Center — currently undergoing a $257 million renovation. The President described the project as part of preparations for America’s upcoming 250th anniversary in 2026.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be historic in scale, featuring 48 national teams and a total of 104 matches — making it the largest tournament in FIFA history. The United States will host games in 11 cities, while Canada will stage 13 matches in Toronto and Vancouver. Mexico will also play a key role, hosting 13 fixtures across Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey.
