Arsenal turned a tense transfer derby into a statement of intent

Arsenal have pulled off a dramatic late-window coup, swooping in to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace — just as rivals Tottenham Hotspur were closing in on the England international.

While reports suggested Spurs were preparing a £64 million bid for the dynamic forward, the Gunners acted swiftly, submitting an improved offer of £67 million to seal the deal and leave their North London neighbours stunned.

In a matter of hours, Arsenal turned a tense transfer derby into a statement of intent — beating their rivals and landing one of the most electrifying talents in the Premier League.

This move makes Eze the third-most expensive signing in Arsenal’s history, trailing only Declan Rice (£107M) and Nicolas Pépé (£72M). Notably, the fee for Eze also surpasses the £64 million spent on Viktor Gyökeres, who was among the league’s marquee signings earlier this summer.
