Roberto Martinez impressed by Ronaldo's international perfomance

The head coach of the Portuguese national team, Roberto Martinez, admitted that the captain and long-time leader of the team, Cristiano Ronaldo, impressed him with his approach to games at the international level.

“I never liked making a choice or calling someone up without getting to know the person. So, I decided to get to know all the players who were in the squad for the 2022 World Cup.

When I met Cristiano, I saw a player who was ready to give everything for the sake of his national team. I saw how committed he had to the national team. He wanted to be in the service of the team in some way.

I was very surprised by his modesty and desire to help the team. And that was the starting point,” Martinez said.
