Van Gaal: I adapted my midfield and it won the game against Belgium
Louis Van Gaal, Netherlands manager, praised his team's midfield perfomance in a Nations League game against Belgium (4:1).
"If everyone does what they are supposed to do, then in every position on the pitch we have one player extra. It also has to do with the opponent – every opponent plays differently. And I adjusted to Belgium too. I adapted my midfield. And my midfield won the game today.
I can't not select players that don't play at their team. I don't have that luxury. Twenty years ago when a player didn't play, they didn't train. They didn't take care of themselves. Now they do. That's completely changed. So for me a player doesn't have to necessarily play at his team. He just has to train and take care of himself."
