The Japanese racer, who has previously competed for the Racing Bulls, will now partner with reigning world champion

Red Bull Racing has officially confirmed the replacement of Liam Lawson with Yuki Tsunoda as their second driver for the upcoming Formula 1 season. The Japanese racer, who has previously competed for the Racing Bulls, will now partner with reigning world champion Max Verstappen starting from the highly anticipated Japanese Grand Prix.

The decision comes after two challenging races for Liam Lawson, who struggled with the handling of the RB21 car. Christian Horner, the team principal of Red Bull, emphasized that the team’s primary goal is to defend the Drivers' Championship title and reclaim the Constructors' Cup.

Yuki Tsunoda himself expressed his excitement for the new challenge, stating that he is fully prepared to step into the role and race in front of his home crowd in Japan. Rumors have already begun circulating that his place at Racing Bulls might be taken by Argentine driver Franco Colapinto, though official confirmation is still pending.
