UEFA Champions League

The UEFA Champions League final might take an unprecedented step in the coming years by being hosted outside Europe — in the United States. According to Independent, discussions are already underway between UEFA and the European Club Association (ECA) with American sports agency Relevent Sports.

The negotiations focus on global commercial rights for men’s club competitions in Europe from 2027 to 2033. If an agreement is reached, it would mark the end of UEFA’s 30-year partnership with TEAM Marketing, the agency responsible for the iconic Champions League branding, including the "star ball" and the world-famous tournament anthem.

The news has reportedly caused shockwaves within TEAM Marketing. Sources inside the company have expressed frustration over the decision-making process, but it appears unlikely they can influence the outcome.

Relevent Sports is owned by billionaire and NFL team Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, who has long dreamed of bringing major European club matches to the U.S. The move would be a significant step in expanding the global reach of the Champions League, tapping into the growing American soccer market.

The upcoming UEFA Champions League final will still be held in Europe, at the iconic Allianz Arena in Munich.
