Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyökeres, currently the leading scorer across Europe, has expressed his desire to remain at the Lisbon club for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

Despite recent speculation about his future following the departure of manager Rúben Amorim to Manchester United, Gyökeres has made it clear that he is not seeking a mid-season exit.

"Leaving the team is not something I’m thinking about," Gyökeres told reporters. "I want to finish the season at Sporting. I enjoy being here, so staying is not stressful for me.

When asked about potential future destinations, the Swedish international remained diplomatic: "It’s hard to say where I’d like to play. I don’t have any specific preferences. We’ll see what happens in the future and how I feel then."

A Record-Breaking Season

Gyökeres’ form this season has been nothing short of extraordinary. With 28 goals and 7 assists in 23 matches for both Sporting and the Swedish national team, the 25-year-old has outshone every other player in Europe’s top leagues.

His prolific performances have fueled Sporting’s campaign in both domestic and European competitions, keeping the club competitive despite the managerial change.

As Sporting prepares for the next stage of the season, Gyökeres’ commitment to the team offers a significant boost for fans and teammates alike. However, with transfer interest likely to intensify, the summer could bring new challenges for both the player and the club.
