Mykolenko: Seamus Coleman is a great man and a great captain
Ukraine's Vitaly Mykolenko spoke to the media before the Nations Legue game against Ireland.
- What messages did you receive from your teammates from Everton after the first goal for the national team? How do you feel about the fact that the club supports Ukraine in such difficult times?
- I received a message from our coach Joe Edwards and Nathan Patterson from Scotland. I don't think it makes sense to talk about Everton and support right now. Of course, this support is insane. I saw on the Internet that the club's president invited Dynamo Kyiv to play with us. I would like to thank all the countries where we played in - Poland, Scotland, Wales, Ireland. I thank the people for their support.
- The current situation in Ukraine, the situation at Everton is probably the most important time in your life. Is it hard for you and how are you feeling?
- I feel good, but if we played in Ukraine, it would be much better. When the war broke out, I thought a lot about the fact that some problems used to seem grand. But since the beginning of the war, I have focused on football, on the team, I realized that not everything is so difficult in England and Everton. You need to go out and prove that you can play, that we can win.
- I will tell one story. I arrived in England on December 31. On New Year's Eve, Coleman wrote to me: "I know how hard it is for you, but I will always help you as much as you and I will be in this club. You can always count on my support". During all this time he has always helped me. Seamus is a great man and a great captain.
