Fiorentina’s brief surge of optimism was quickly brought to a halt as they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Parma in Serie A.

There was little to smile about for the visitors. Following the loss at the Stadio Ennio Tardini, Fiorentina remain rooted near the bottom of the Serie A table, with their away form a growing concern. The Viola have collected just three points on their travels all season — a statistic that continues to haunt them.

As a result, the emphatic 5-1 win over Udinese in the previous round remains the only real bright spot in what has otherwise been a frustrating league campaign for Fiorentina.
