The new arena will be built adjacent to the current site rather than replacing it directly

AC Milan and Inter Milan have officially confirmed the signing of an agreement to purchase the iconic San Siro Stadium along with the surrounding land.

The deal, which was approved by the Milan City Council back in September, has now been fully finalized as both clubs completed all the necessary legal documentation earlier today.

According to the official statement, a large portion of the current Stadio Giuseppe Meazza — better known as San Siro — is expected to be demolished between 2031 and 2032.

However, construction of a brand-new, state-of-the-art stadium will begin much earlier. The new arena will be built adjacent to the current site rather than replacing it directly, ensuring both clubs can continue to play at San Siro during the early construction phases.

Groundbreaking is scheduled for the first half of 2027, with completion targeted for 2031. The ambitious timeline aims to deliver a modern football venue worthy of two of Italy’s greatest clubs.

Beyond offering Inter Milan and AC Milan a new home for the 2031/32 season, the project will also strengthen Milan’s bid to be one of the host cities for the UEFA Euro 2032.
