Netflix and Disney are set to go head-to-head with Amazon and DAZN in what could become one of the most fiercely contested battles for sports broadcasting rights in history. The companies are preparing bids for the UEFA Champions League rights cycle starting in 2027.

UEFA expects to generate around €5 billion per season from the next round of media rights sales, covering the period from 2027 to 2033. The official tender will take place on October 13 and is already being described as a watershed moment for the future of football broadcasting.

For comparison, the current broadcast cycle was sold for €3.6 billion per season — a figure UEFA now aims to significantly surpass amid surging interest from global streaming platforms looking to expand their live sports portfolios.
