Juventus continued their steady rise in the Serie A

Juventus continued their steady rise in the Serie A table with a narrow 1-0 away win over Genoa, thanks to a second-half strike from Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic.

It was a cagey first half at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, with both sides creating but failing to convert early chances. Ellertsson — starting for Genoa — had the first big opportunity in the 30th minute, but the Juve backline held firm. At the other end, Gatti tested Leali, who produced a sharp save to keep the score level.

Kenan Yildiz also had a hand in denying Genoa a breakthrough, clearing a chance just before the break after Albert Gudmundsson nearly found the net.

Vlahovic the Difference-Maker

After the interval, Genoa pushed forward with intent. Marcus Thuram tried to beat Wojciech Szczesny with a curling effort, but the Polish goalkeeper remained untroubled.

It was the introduction of Dusan Vlahovic that ultimately turned the tide. The Serbian came off the bench and wasted little time — connecting with a low cross in the 68th minute to slot home the only goal of the match.

Genoa nearly snatched a dramatic equaliser in stoppage time when Mattia Mazzini rattled the crossbar, but Juventus held on to secure all three points.
