Paris Saint-Germain delivered a stunning, record-breaking performance in Munich to capture their first-ever UEFA Champions League trophy, demolishing Inter Milan 5–0 in the most lopsided final scoreline in tournament history.

History Made in Munich

PSG became the first club to win a Champions League final by a five-goal margin, rewriting the record books and etching their name as the 23rd team to lift European football’s most coveted club trophy.

Coming into the match, PSG were clear favourites after a dominant knockout run that saw them eliminate Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Arsenal. This was despite finishing only 15th in the overall group stage standings — a testament to their explosive playoff form.

Inter, by contrast, entered the final boasting one of the tournament’s best defensive records, having conceded just one goal in eight main-round matches and surviving a wild semi-final against Barcelona (3–3, 4–3). But on the biggest stage, they simply could not cope with PSG’s balance and firepower.

Star Power and Young Brilliance

The French side took the lead in the 12th minute through Achraf Hakimi, after Désiré Doué slipped behind a disorganized Inter backline. By the 20th minute, Doué — one of the season’s breakout stars — added his own name to the scoresheet, finishing off a lightning-quick counterattack. The 19-year-old would go on to score a second and provide an assist, cementing his status as the final’s standout performer.

Inter, meanwhile, failed to register a single shot on target in the first half. Manager Simone Inzaghi was visibly frustrated, picking up a yellow card as PSG’s dominance continued. By the middle of the second half, the result was beyond doubt, as the French champions added three more goals, leaving Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer helpless and the scoreboard reading 5–0 at the final whistle.

PSG’s Moment of Glory

This triumph marks PSG’s long-awaited breakthrough on the European stage, delivering the Champions League title. With this victory, they join the exclusive club of European champions, finally realizing their long-held dream.
