The 21-year-old playmaker was forced off in the first half of Ukraine’s dramatic 5-3 victory

According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, Benfica midfielder Georgiy Sudakov remains a doubt for the upcoming Primeira Liga fixture against Chaves on October 17, following a shoulder injury sustained on international duty with Ukraine.

The 21-year-old playmaker was forced off in the first half of Ukraine’s dramatic 5-3 victory over Iceland during the international break. Initial concerns have now been confirmed after further tests conducted by Benfica’s medical staff.

A Bola reports that Sudakov suffered a mild sprain of the acromioclavicular joint in his left shoulder. While not considered a serious injury, it’s enough to place his availability for this week’s domestic league fixture in serious doubt.

The club is monitoring his recovery closely, with a view to getting him fit in time for their crucial UEFA Champions League group stage match against Newcastle United on October 21.
