Paris Saint-Germain delivered a ruthless performance

Paris Saint-Germain delivered a ruthless performance against Inter Miami, storming into the quarter-finals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup with a dominant 4-0 victory.

There was no miracle in the making. Despite the hype, there was no fairytale ending for Inter Miami — a club founded in 2020 and still relatively fresh on the global stage. Simply reaching the knockout rounds was a major achievement. But when it came to facing the reigning UEFA Champions League winners, the gulf in class was impossible to ignore.

The first half said it all. PSG suffocated their opponents from the first whistle, taking the lead within six minutes and dominating possession throughout. Gianluigi Donnarumma had virtually nothing to do, as Inter failed to register a single shot before the break.

Much was made about Lionel Messi potentially seeking revenge against his former club and fanbase. But the Argentine was a shadow of his usual self, and the fire appeared to burn brighter in Luis Suárez, who tried to rally the team emotionally — though his legs told a different story.

PSG turned up the pressure before halftime, scoring multiple goals in the final 10 minutes of the first half and making it 4-0 by the interval. From there, the second half became a formality.

Miami Legends Bow Out with Pride

To their credit, the Inter Miami veterans did not go down quietly. Messi had two half-chances that could have offered a consolation, but PSG appeared content to control the pace and avoid further humiliation for their MLS opponents.
