Three in the Bag for Bayern Munich as They Steamroll Bayer Leverkusen

It was a statement win for Bayern Munich—or more precisely, a victory built on pure class. On Wednesday night, the Bavarians showed they had the better game plan, a stronger lineup, and sharper finishing in their emphatic 3–0 triumph over Bayer Leverkusen.

Without a natural center-forward in their starting XI, Bayer Leverkusen struggled to create any real threats and managed only one notable chance—brilliantly denied by Manuel Neuer on Jeremie Frimpong’s effort. Meanwhile, Bayern converted their first opportunity. Harry Kane sparked the move from deep, feeding Michael Olise, who whipped a cross into the penalty area. Kane outjumped Nordi Mukiélé and drove his header inside the post.

For Mukiélé, the night went from bad to worse. Shown yellow twice—first after a heated exchange with Bayern players, and then for a clumsy foul near the touchline—he left Bayer Leverkusen with ten men.

But even before the sending-off, Bayern Munich had doubled their lead. Goalkeeper Matěj Kovář mishandled what seemed a routine cross, knocking the ball behind himself. Jamal Musiala raced in to capitalize, tucking the loose ball home to make it 2–0.

With his side down a man, head coach Xabi Alonso focused on limiting the damage—only for Edmond Tapsoba to concede a penalty after grappling with Kane in the box. Harry Kane stepped up and fired in his second goal of the night. Until now, he had scored just once in six previous encounters with Bayer Leverkusen.

The 3–0 scoreline reflects a commanding result for the Bavarians, while Xabi Alonso’s six-match unbeaten streak comes to an abrupt end. Whether this defeat is merely a blip or a signal of deeper issues for Leverkusen remains to be seen, but there’s no denying Bayern Munich’s show of strength on the night.
