Patrick van Leeuwen is the new head coach of Shakhtar. A contract with the Dutch specialist is valid until June 30, 2025.

Van Leeuwen became the 36th head coach in the history of the club.

Patrick van Leeuwen was born on August 8, 1969 in Assen (Netherlands). He began his player career at Sparta Rotterdam where he played for the first team in 1991–1994. He also played for Helmond Sport (1994–1996).

Manager and coach career: coordinator of the Feyenoord Academy (2000–2006), coordinator and director of the Shakhtar Academy (2006–2013), sports director of Kairat (Kazakhstan; 2013–2015), director of the Maccabi Tel Aviv Academy (Israel; 2016 -2020), head coach of Maccabi Tel Aviv (Israel; 2020-2021), head coach of Zorya Luhansk (2022–2023).

As a coach, he had 30 matches in the Ukrainian Championship: 20 wins, 4 draws, 6 defeats (goal difference: 61-34). He has been recognized as the best coach of the UPL in the 2022/23 season based on the results of the club polling.
