Argentina rounded off their latest international fixture with a 3-0 friendly win over Benin — but the scoreline was almost secondary to the historic occasion. The match marked Lionel Messi's final appearance for the Argentina national team, bringing another remarkable chapter of his international career to a close.

The game was played at the Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires, with Messi once again at the centre of the action. The Argentina captain converted a penalty in the 71st minute and also provided two assists. Nico Paz and Nicolás Otamendi were the other goalscorers for the world champions.
