Brighton - Chelsea 3:0

Brighton delivered a commanding performance to see off Chelsea, handing the London side their sixth consecutive defeat and intensifying scrutiny around Liam Rosenior. The visitors had no answer to the relentless tempo and high press imposed at the Amex Stadium, where the hosts took control from the very first whistle.

The breakthrough arrived as early as the third minute, when Ferdi Kadioglu capitalised on a fortunate deflection off Wesley Fofana to put Brighton ahead. From that point on, it was one-way traffic. Brighton dominated possession and territory throughout the first half, forcing Chelsea deep into their own half and limiting them to reactive defending.

After the interval, Chelsea attempted to reset, abandoning their three-man defence in search of greater stability. However, the tactical reshuffle failed to stem the tide. In the 56th minute, Jack Hinshelwood doubled Brighton’s advantage with a composed finish, effectively putting the contest beyond doubt.

There was still time for Danny Welbeck to add a third late on, sealing an emphatic victory and matching the club’s Premier League single-season scoring record previously held by Glenn Murray.
