Slip-Up in Augsburg: Hoffenheim’s Champions League Hopes Take a Hit

TSG Hoffenheim dropped more valuable points in the race for a top-four finish in the Bundesliga, drawing 2–2 away at FC Augsburg in a frustrating encounter that could prove costly in the long run.
The visitors endured a nightmare start, conceding twice inside the opening 13 minutes as defensive frailties once again came to the surface. Hoffenheim looked disjointed at the back, allowing Augsburg to seize early control and put the pressure firmly on the travelling side.
However, the response showed character. Goals from Ermedin Demirović and Ihlas Bebou brought Hoffenheim level before the break, with the second coming after a costly error from the Augsburg goalkeeper.
The closing stages delivered high drama. Bernardo conceded a late penalty, handing Augsburg a golden opportunity to snatch all three points. But Alexis Claude-Maurice blazed his effort over the bar, allowing Hoffenheim to escape with a point.
