Belgian forward chose to remain in his home country rather than rejoin the squad

Napoli could be heading toward a firm response after striker Romelu Lukaku reportedly refused to return to the club, intensifying tensions behind the scenes in Serie A.

Sporting director Giovanni Manna addressed the situation, making it clear that the club expects full commitment from its players. According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, the Belgian forward chose to remain in his home country rather than rejoin the squad.

"Romelu Lukaku decided not to return when we asked him to and stayed in Belgium to assess his injury. The club must always come first. We will take appropriate measures," Giovanni Manna stated.

The developments raise fresh questions about Romelu Lukaku’s future at Napoli, particularly given his limited impact this season. The striker has made just seven appearances across all competitions, scoring once, with injuries significantly disrupting his campaign.
