West Ham - Manchester City 1:1

West Ham United produced a determined performance to hold Manchester City to a 1–1 draw at the London Stadium, earning a crucial point in their fight for survival in the Premier League. The result allowed the Hammers, managed by Nuno Espírito Santo, to climb out of the relegation zone for the first time since December, while Pep Guardiola’s side suffered a costly setback in the title race.

With Arsenal strengthening their position at the top of the table after victory over Everton, City’s gap to the league leaders has now stretched to nine points. With just eight rounds remaining in the season, the pressure is mounting on the reigning champions.

The visitors made the brighter start and took the lead through Bernardo Silva, whose composed finish put Manchester City ahead early in the contest. It looked like a familiar script for Guardiola’s men — control the game and grind out another vital win.

But West Ham United had other ideas. Showing resilience and intensity, the hosts levelled the score when Konstantinos Mavropanos rose highest from a corner to power a precise header beyond the goalkeeper, sending the London Stadium into celebration.

Manchester City pushed hard for a winner in the closing stages, but the Hammers’ defence held firm under increasing pressure. The closest the visitors came was when Tijjani Reijnders rattled the crossbar with a dangerous free kick, while Marc Guéhi squandered a late opportunity deep into stoppage time.

The draw lifts West Ham United to 17th place, moving them one point clear of Nottingham Forest and out of the drop zone. Meanwhile, Manchester City remain second in the Premier League, but their title ambitions have taken another hit as the race enters its decisive final weeks.
