The transfer fee is reported to be €23 million

Manchester City have officially confirmed the signing of defender Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, securing one of the most sought-after English centre-backs in a deal that could prove decisive in the Premier League title race.

The 25-year-old England international has put pen to paper on a long-term contract running until 2031 and will wear the No. 15 shirt at the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola moved swiftly to reinforce his defensive options following injury setbacks to Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias, with Manchester City beating off strong interest from Liverpool to land the player.

The transfer fee is reported to be €23 million — a relatively modest figure explained by the fact that Guehi’s contract with Crystal Palace was due to expire this summer. In market terms, it represents shrewd business for the reigning champions, adding proven Premier League quality at a crucial stage of the season.

Guehi becomes City’s second winter signing following the arrival of Antoine Semenyo, as Guardiola looks to inject fresh energy into his squad.
