Monaco - Lorient 1:3

AS Monaco’s alarming downturn deepened as they slumped to a damaging 3–1 home defeat against FC Lorient in Matchday 18 of Ligue 1. For Sébastien Pocognoli’s side, it marked a grim milestone: a seventh loss in their last eight league matches — the worst run in the club’s history.

There were early signs of intent from the hosts in the Principality. Aleksandr Golovin and Folarin Balogun both went close as Monaco started brightly, pushing Lorient back and searching for an early breakthrough. But familiar problems soon resurfaced. Against the run of play, Bamba Dieng struck first for the visitors, punishing Monaco’s defensive fragility.

The pressure continued to mount, and it was not until the 76th minute that Ansu Fati dragged Monaco level, injecting brief hope into the stands at Stade Louis II. Yet that hope proved painfully short-lived.

In a chaotic final stretch, the home side completely lost their structure. Goals from Makengo and Karim inside three devastating minutes sealed a famous away win for FC Lorient and left Monaco stunned.
