Manchester City - Sunderland 3:0

Stepping onto the pitch for their Matchweek 15 clash with Sunderland, the players of Manchester City already knew the biggest news of the day — league leaders Arsenal had fallen to Aston Villa. For Pep Guardiola and his men, it was a golden opportunity to narrow the gap at the top, and they approached the task with trademark composure.

The first half quickly swung in City’s favour, thanks to an unlikely duo of goalscorers. Centre-back Rúben Dias opened the scoring before fellow defender Joško Gvardiol doubled the lead. Sunderland’s back line paid the price for leaving two of the Premier League’s most dangerous defenders unmarked inside the box.

Midway through the second half, Phil Foden added a clinical third, effectively ending the contest and sealing a convincing away victory for Manchester City.
