Manchester United are closing in on confirming their first signing of the winter window, having made significant progress in negotiations for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder João Gomes. The deal is expected to be worth around £50 million.

According to TEAMtalk, the player has already “given the green light” for a move to Old Trafford. While Wolves are reluctant to part with such a key figure as they look to rescue their season, United have reportedly already secured the midfielder’s approval.
