AC Milan claimed a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory

AC Milan claimed a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory against Fiorentina on Sunday night to seize sole possession of first place in Serie A.

The opening 45 minutes at the San Siro ended goalless, despite a clear-cut opportunity for Lucas Martínez Quarta, whose teammate Pavlović squandered a close-range chance to give the visitors an early lead.

Just after the break, Fiorentina stunned the home crowd when Robin Gosens capitalized on a defensive mix-up between Mike Maignan and Matteo Gabbia to slot home the opener.

But Milan quickly roared back into the game. In the 62nd minute, Rafael Leão unleashed a powerful strike from outside the box to level the score. The Portuguese forward wasn't done yet.

With just minutes remaining, substitute Jiménez earned a penalty after a VAR review confirmed a foul inside the area. Leão stepped up to the spot and coolly converted, completing his brace and sending the Rossoneri faithful into raptures.
