Manchester City delivered a ruthless performance reminiscent of their title-winning best

Manchester City delivered a ruthless performance reminiscent of their title-winning best, crushing Burnley 5–1 at the Etihad Stadium in the 2025/26 Premier League.

Pep Guardiola’s men were in complete control from start to finish, despite some help from the visitors — notably French defender Maxime Estève, who scored two own goals before the 65th minute, gifting City an early cushion.

Matheus Nunes added the first from open play with a powerful strike to make it 3–0. Burnley managed to pull one back, but it was too little, too late.

In stoppage time, Erling Haaland made sure the scoreline reflected City’s dominance. The Norwegian star striker netted a quick-fire brace past Martin Dúbravka to cap off a five-star performance.
