Lyon - Angers 1:0

Olympique Lyon secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Angers to draw level on points with Paris Saint-Germain at the top of the Ligue 1 table.

After a disappointing defeat to Rennes last weekend, Paulo Fonseca’s side responded with a composed and patient display. Angers, for their part, sat deep and defended resolutely, with goalkeeper Ibrahim Koffi keeping his side in the game with key saves from Corentin Tolisso and Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

The breakthrough finally came in the 65th minute when Tanner Tessmann reacted quickest to slot home after yet another save from Koffi. Lyon nearly doubled their lead shortly after — Martín Satriano struck the post, while both Sékou Fofana and Maitland-Niles squandered clear chances.

In a tense finale, Angers came within inches of snatching a point. Jorge Machín rattled the woodwork, and Lyon keeper Philipp Grief pulled off a crucial save in the dying moments to preserve the three points.
