United secured a dramatic 5–4 victory

Manchester United secured a dramatic 5–4 victory on penalties over Fiorentina in the Snapdragon Cup at Old Trafford, after the pre-season friendly ended 1–1 in normal time.

But it wasn’t just the football that caught the attention of fans. Before kick-off, United introduced their latest summer signings, including the highly anticipated arrival of Benjamin Šeško, who received a warm welcome from the home crowd.

The loudest applause of the evening, however, was reserved for a returning legend — David De Gea. Now wearing the Fiorentina shirt, the former United keeper stepped onto the Old Trafford pitch for the first time since his departure last year. The crowd rose to their feet, giving him a rapturous reception, which De Gea acknowledged with a wave and a smile. He was subbed off in the 87th minute and did not feature in the shootout.

The match itself was tight and tactical. Fiorentina struck first through Zom, while Manchester United found an equaliser via an own goal late in the second half. Notably absent was Rasmus Højlund, who is reportedly being lined up for a potential move — or loan — to AC Milan.

The penalty shootout went the full distance, and it was Kobbie Mainoo who stepped up for a crucial spot-kick and calmly converted, helping the Red Devils clinch the win.
