This was the first time the Red Devils truly looked like a powerhouse in the making

Bruno Fernandes delivered a statement performance with a clinical brace, as Manchester United edged past West Ham 2-1 in a pre-season friendly in New York.

But beyond the scoreline, what truly stood out was the energy and intent from Rúben Amorim’s side. After weeks of cautious build-up and experimental line-ups,

— wave after wave of attacks, crisp interplay, and a barrage of goal-scoring chances that thrilled the American crowd.

The opener came courtesy of a howler from Alphonse Areola, who misjudged a routine cross, spilled the ball, and then brought down a United player in a desperate attempt to recover. No complaints from the Frenchman, and the referee pointed straight to the spot.

Fernandes converted the penalty with trademark calm, and later added a second — a composed, curling finish into the far corner that reminded everyone of his quality when he's given space and confidence.

Jarrod Bowen grabbed one back for the Hammers with a sharp finish, but it was too little, too late. United’s intensity, fluidity, and pressing under Amorim left fans optimistic for what's to come.
