Usyk switches off Dubois to become undisputed heavyweight champion
Oleksandr Usyk once again proved his dominance in boxing’s blue-riband division, delivering a clinical fifth-round knockout of Daniel Dubois in front of a packed Wembley crowd.
The build-up to the fight had centred around Dubois’ explosive approach — the same aggressive strategy that stunned Anthony Joshua. Many believed the younger Brit would look to repeat that script against Usyk. But the Ukrainian masterfully used his trademark movement and control of distance to neutralise the threat early on.
The end came quicker than most had predicted. In round five, Usyk first dropped Dubois with a sharp combination before the referee allowed the bout to continue. Moments later, the Ukrainian unleashed a devastating one-two that left no doubt — Dubois was out, and Usyk was crowned undisputed heavyweight world champion.
Another title. Another milestone. And yet another reminder that Oleksandr Usyk belongs among the greats.
