FC Bayern Munich have officially announced the signing of Jonathan Tah, confirming the German international’s move from Bayer Leverkusen on a free transfer.

The 29-year-old centre-back has penned a long-term deal that will keep him at the Allianz Arena until June 30, 2029. Tah will wear the number 4 shirt for the Bavarian giants.

Tah joins Bayern Munich after a stellar nine-year spell at Bayer Leverkusen, where he became one of the Bundesliga’s most consistent defenders. Since arriving in the 2015/16 season, he racked up 402 appearances, scored 18 goals, and provided 13 assists. He played a pivotal role in Leverkusen’s historic domestic double in 2024, which included their first-ever Bundesliga title and a German Supercup triumph.

On the international stage, Tah made his debut for the Germany national team in March 2016 and has since earned 35 caps, solidifying his reputation as a reliable presence in the heart of defence.
